Symposium overview
This symposium will bring together a cross-disciplinary collection of scientists from cell and developmental biology, biophysics and engineering, with the overarching goal of understanding the principles of designing the shape of living organisms. The process by which cells create tissues and organs with specific forms and functions involves self-organization of fluctuating chemical reactions and mechanical changes. This symposium aims to showcase recent studies on the interplay between chemical reactions and mechanical forces in an emergent tissue during development, and provide a forum to foster new collaborations across these communities.
